Description

Bidjar lies in the Kurdistan Province of northwestern Iran. The carpets made here reflect the artistic sensitivity and culture of the Kurdish people. Finely worked geometric motifs are woven with wool or wool and cotton. Classic motifs such as the mina khani, Herati and guls are woven in stylized allover designs. Colors are rich reds, blues, yellows and greens. The weavers pound the knots, creating a stiff foundation. The carpets are so tightly constructed that little dust or other particles penetrate the pile, making them excellent for high-traffic areas.
